The ancient China uniform consisted mostly of dresses. Although women wore long tunics that reached the ground, the men wore tunics that reached the knees. The sleeves of uniform were wide and full, with belts to be added as ornamentation. Shadows have been preferred to those of light. Light-colored clothing was worn more commonly by the common people. The original ancient Chinese clothing has been mentioned as the clothing of the Han Chinese. The equipment has been called the Hanfu. With the advent of different dynasties, the Hanfu has undergone many changes.
Mainly, there were three variants of the ancient Chinese clothing.
Pien-Fu
A 2-piece ceremonial costume, consisting of a tunic reaching to the knees and worn with a skirt or pants ankle length.
Ch'ang P'ao
It is an ankle length one-piece tunic dress.
Shenyi
A combination of the two, a shenyi is a top 2 pieces of trousers and skirt held / has been sewn together to make a garment in one piece.
The first recorded dynasty, the Shang Dynasty, developed the foundations of Hanfu, it consisted of a tunic with a belt tied with knees, wrists and close called yi, a narrow, ankle-length skirt, called Shang. This was accompanied by a BIXI, which was a piece of fabric that reached the knees.
Since the technology was limited, the only colors that could be used were primary colors red, blue, yellow and green. It was held a Unisex worn by men and women. The upper classes of society were more careful and patterns on it, despite the available colors are limited.
The next dynasty, the Zhou Dynasty Western has managed to impose a social system in ancient Chinese clothing. This was shown by the complexity in their outfits. The higher the rank, the more flamboyant and ornate clothing. This included the length of a skirt, the width of a sleeve and the degree of ornamentation. In addition, the Hanfu became more flexible. The sleeves are wider and the yi was tied with a belt that has been decorated with ornaments made of jade. The shenyi entered into force under the Zhou Dynasty Eastern. It is a sort of combination of a tunic and skirt where the upper and lower halves were cut separately but sewn in one piece. In ancient Chinese clothing most traditional designs were unisex cut little complicated. However, as the dynasties changed, the gender dimension came into the shenyi. The men wore pants and women in general, skirts. Each dynasty had their own style of Hanfu as they evolved.
During the winter months in ancient China, to keep them warm, people wore padded jackets over the tunics. Although regarded as very common in China, but silk as a canvas has been limited to the rich. The poor wore hemp or ramie.
